They all make terrible first bikes.

Smart, fiat, Kia. Also wtf dude, Lamborghini but not Ferrari? At least Lamborghini is honest.

I love it - Honda is the only brand in the US that is making a “truck” that fits the needs of most consumers that will purchase a full-size pickup truck, but won’t consider the Ridgeline because it doesn’t add inches to their dicks.

How did Hyundai make it on this list?
![]() 07/14/2016 at 11:59 |

A CUV based truck? That adds feet not inches.

Honestly I think the kind of person who makes that crack will do the same thing to the Ridgeline buyer, because “it looks like a truck and has chrome on it. Not a work truck. Penis extension.”

Meanwhile the guy in your above scenario is commuting 25 miles to work in a Crew Cab 2500 with a lift and 22" wheels, because he will be damned if anything thinks his dick is small .

I actually don’t like Hyundai, never have, I know it’s weird. Kias usually fix the issues I have with the Hyundai models and all the models I do like from Hyundai are moving out of the brand. Plus I can’t stand how they screw Kia over by taking any styling cues or talent from that brand and slotting them into Hyundai. Kia is the greatest underdog in the industry, even besting Mazda for the title.

I know we would seriously consider a ridgeline if it were an x-tra or standard cab rather than a quad. The handling, economy, comfort and price all make perfect sense, but when we need to haul 9 sheep to slaughter we need a full-size bed.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:15 |
|
And yet Kia takes a lot of styling cues from other brands. Sorento - Lexus RX just to name one.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:15 |

Fits the needs is not quite the same thing as fitting the likes, unfortunately. As to the new gen of Ridgeline, I’m reserving opinion until I get to ride in one. The old gen I respect well enough, but it rides and drives like a topheavy minivan and is just... awkward. As a connoisseur of uglitude I could see myself putting up with the buttresses and lumpiness, but it just didn’t feel right inside.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:16 |

Wait...are you saying you CAN add inches?!?!?!
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:17 |

I can’t believe Land Rover didn’t make it on the list, before the majority that did.

Wait... back up. The guy in my above scenario? You mean the guy that’s making the crack at the Ridgeline driver?
...I was picturing Corrolla guy or Prius Lady. But come to think of it that works OK too.
Though I have to say I’m not a fan of the Ridgeline, but it’s for a completely different set of reasons. Roll my reasons up together and boil them down and it comes to the Ridgeline isn’t the all-rounder I want my midsizer to be. It’s still an all-rounder, but instead of “I’ll do anything, but don’t be too surprised if I don’t excel in the real heavy shit” it’s “I’ll try anything if you make me and I MAY be able to do it, but it’s not really my thing so fingers crossed” in some areas and “fuck yeah this is my home turf!!” in others.
IMO Honda is marketing the Ridgeline wrong. It should be going after fleet sales. Think about it, it’s a nice, easy, car-like drive, it’s most comfortable messing around in town, it’s small enough to be handy in most downtown cores, it has more than enough bed space for anything other than carrying plywood. It would make a perfect replacement for all the aging 1st gen Colorado’s that places like pest controllers and auto parts stores seem to favour.

The best way to add inches to your head is to grow out your hair and use a strong-hold styling gel.

This.
But on the aesthetic front, the old one looked WAY better.

NO
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:47 |

It seems like the Ridgeline is too up-market for fleet use, unless they sell a stripper version with steel wheels like the first-gen Pilot.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:47 |
|
actually, if Ford sold a AWD Transit in the US.... a diesel, cargo transit would be ideal for our needs. Low load floor, covered/walled interior, efficient. But if we need to drive out into a field 2wd won’t cut it once there’s 1000+lbs of sheep in the back. Ask us how we know. Quigley 4x4 conversions are cool, just too damn expensive.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:48 |
|
I was under the impression that Ford sold the older E-body vans with factory 4x4 and Triton V10 engines. Would one of those work?
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:51 |
|
One of those are just flat out necessary.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:55 |
|
That’s the problem. But I do think they’d have a real moneymaker on their hands if they’d geared it in that direction, or at least made a version like that. As much as I don’t want one for myself, and as much as I enjoy my Colorado as a whole, I’d be chuffed if I was given a Ridgeline to replace a Colorado as a city use company truck.
![]() 07/14/2016 at 12:59 |
|
they do, but the high load floor in those is no better than a pickup bed, and the Triton is just a hole you pour fuel down... Our current 4x4 Tacoma extra cab is better on gas, nicer to drive, and has as much useable sheep space.

BMW (apart from the Gran Coupes) and Mazda are the only two brands I really can’t find anything I like about.
Also, fuck you, Mini is great. If only their cars weren’t so damn expensive.
